South Casco Attractions: What to do & Places to Visit in South Casco
"Had a great time wine tasting with my wife and another couple. This Maine winery purchases grapes from various regions and makes some good wines. The tasting room really is a former Blacksmith's shop has authentic charcter.
The tasting room host was friendly and knew all about the wines and the..." region. He recommended some other great stops for us. Definitely visit if you are in the area!

"It is a shame that this excellent winery is off the beaten path of Portland visitor. It is a short trip if you have your GPS plugged in. Well worth you time. Actually a very enjoyable ride through the Sebago Lake area near Naples. I visited 9 wineries in Maine in May. It is in the top two. The man w..."ho owes it and poured for us could not have been nicer. He has done a very nice job with tasting room ambiance. Blacksmith's Winery is not a wine "snob" tasting room, it is for people who want to know how these Maine wines are made. My pick was Roughshod, a Blueberry wine with Grape Brandy, and my wife loved Cabernet Sauvignon, very light and easy on the palate. The grapes come from various regions and the berries from local sources. Here is the surprise, they have HARD cider and it is GREAT. Apples are local and you can even buy a Growler, a refillable Jug , for those who can't stay away.

On Saturday's they sample their ice wine - one of the best alcoholic beverages I have ever tried, by the way (it tastes like liquid honey). If you like wine - or are even just interested in it - and you've never stopped here, you are sorely missing out. It's a fun afternoon activity! Even when I worked at a brewery I used to encourage our visitors to check Blacksmith's out, because I knew with absolute certain...
