Learn more about the mansion built by one of the founding fathers of the rail car industry, John H. Barker. This house, while actually lived in for only a very short time, has brought many years of enjoyment to the Barker family, and to the residents of the City of Michigan City. From educational guided tours to special seasonal functions, the Barker Mansion and Civic Center is a true jewel in the crown of Michigan City.

"We just went there on a field trip at school, what fun. Went to the zoo and also the beach. Played in the sand, walked out to the lighthouse. Took lots of pictures. What a fun day, take your kids out there, fly kites, have a picnic, play in the sand and climb the dunes."
"This Winery is right off the high way! Its a great stop if you are going shopping too at teh outlet mall. The inside is very cozy even with an upstairs and sometimes has bands,. The wine tasting was free! The wines were typical of that in the Lake Michigan region and we walked away with some rea..."lly good choices (Pink Sky and Beach Glass as well as the Chardonnay were my favorites). The staff was very friendly and helpful, They had some great suggestions for tastings. Its a very relaxing atmosphere and an enjoyable experience. Stop in even if you have just half an hour. You will enjoy it!

"Love the tigers, white and orange. Took my four year old here twice last year and once this year. Lots of picture taking. Had a picnic lunch with us. Climbed to the top of that tower, lots of steps. He was wore out on the way home but it sure was fun."
