The Yale Center for British Art is a public art museum and world-renowned research institute. Presented to Yale University by Paul Mellon (Yale College Class of 1929), the Center houses the largest collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. The collection of paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, rare books, and manuscripts reflects the development of British art and life from the Elizabethan period to the present day. Works on view include masterpieces by Thomas Gainsborough, J.M.W. Turner, and John Constable, as well as artists from Europe and America who lived and worked in Britain. Perhaps its greatest treasure is the building itself, a masterpiece of modern architecture designed by architect Louis I. Kahn. Located in downtown New Haven, the Center is near many of the city’s best restaurants, theaters, and shops.

Yale Center for British Art: A free museum in downtown New Haven, the Center houses the largest collection of British art outside the UK in a landmark building by Louis Kahn.
"The displays are fascinating, though there is certainly room to display more. The two Gutenberg Bibles were interesting but would liked to have seen the illustrations too."
"I used to have season tickets to LWT years ago but then life got in the way and I stopped going. I was fortunate enough to see "Clybourne Park" this past week and I will be putting LWT back on my list of great venues for theater.
They redid the seating some time ago and, oh, what a relief! Ther..."e is now leg room! That was my biggest complaint in the past and the new seating completely eliminates the crunched knees and inability to cross one's legs. Even in the innermost seat of my row, I was comfortable through the whole production.
The bar in the lobby served reasonably priced drinks. The coffee was pretty terrible, but the warm cookies were a nice treat. It also has beer, wine, mixed drinks, and soft drinks available. Food and drink is allowed in the theater.
There isn't a bad seat but, depending on where you sit, you will have a different perspective of the stage and actors. The stage is surrounded on three sides by seating and it is at floor level. Front row seats ...

"We attended graduation ceremonies for the class of 2013 and were taken with the graduates and their fantastic experience of both education and community.
The undergrad residence system with 12 "colleges" staffed with a master, a dean and a staff is just brilliant in purpose which is to guide and co..."usel students through their curricula, educational and social life. The physical surroundings within the "college" dormatory buildings and gardens are just beautiful and what you would expect within the old traditional Ivy walls. We were all very impressed with everything about Yale, and just for the record I am not a Yale graduate or previous supporter. I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and still love to beat Yale on the athletic field..
