"Glad we didn't have to walk ! Thats a big hill. With ear phones on and a seat on the tram we started up the hill. This time of year the pollen turns your cloths yellow and dust makes your mouth dry.I liked the history lesson .Treehugers will not let them maintain roads , to bad ."
"Stayed in corner unit at far end with our own bathroom. Big rap around porch and rocking chair make this place work well. Swim pool is empty but the grass is green. Tree Huggers will not allow maintaince. "
"The National Park Service should be ashamed. They have unabashedly allowed a monopolistic concessionaire to usurp this beautiful Sequoia grove. When I was young, one could drive up the hill and admire the trees up close. Now, one has to park at the bottom of the hill, where there's a couple of la..."rge trees, and then walk up the hill to see the more impressive, stately grove. Or, take the tram. The tram, however, is $26 for adults and $19 for kids! For a 3-mile tram ride! That's more than Megabus charges to go from Los Angeles to San Francisco (which is 400 miles!) in an air conditioned bus! Now, they are talking about moving the parking even further down the hill, making it virtually a necessity for most people to take the tram to see the trees.
Don't give in to this rip-off. It's an easy hike up the hill. It's even worth it to go a little extra to the Wawona lookout. Better yet, pick up a picnic lunch outside the park and bring it along, so you don't have to eat the conces...
