"I had read about this place a few years ago in the NY Times travel section and made it a goal to experience this. It was definitely worth it and exceeded all my expectations. The wild horses were amazing, beautiful and in their natural element. We were able to ride 6+ hours per day, which is real..."ly a bargain when you consider that some places charge you exorbitant prices just for 1/2 hour ride (I used to take dressage lessons, which definitely takes a bite out of your wallet). You feel great about going on this excursion because your fee actually helps to feed the wild horses.
The manager, Diane & her husband (and even their dog Prince) made us feel so welcome and are overall just genuine & lovely people. The trail was a bit rocky, but that was part of the terrain. We rode to their little cabins on the hill and had an amazing dinner. "We showed up even though it wasn't within their "open window" but were escorted around nonetheless by a very knowledgeable apprentice. Great to see the horses and what they are doing there to save and support a dying breed. Visit if you can and contribute to this wonderful cause!"
"What a great place that does such great work. 300 rescued horses, many from BLM land that might otherwise be killed if not given this home. If you love horses, you'll want to stop at this unique place to see the great work that they do.
