Donald Hess established his first Mount Veeder vineyard in 1978, from the beginning recognizing that on these ridges and benchlands, the potential for great winegrowing was clear. Deep, rocky, volcanic soils provide a home for vineyard blocks producing small, concentrated fruit that reflects the challenges of growing grapes at higher altitudes in the coolest mountain growing region in Napa. The Hess Collection winery is part of a historic site where wine was first produced in the 1860’s, in a native stone build hewn by masons in 1903. The original stone structure is now joined by The Hess Art Collection, a world-class showcase of contemporary art that captures “two passions under one roof.” The Hess Collection uses sustainable, environmentally-sound practices with the axiom, “Nurture the land, and return what you take.” That philosophy brings with it a dedication to delivering wines that speak to their natural origins. Wine tasting & tours daily. Culinary experiences include pairings with small plates, artisan cheese and chocolates.

"We really enjoyed the Farm to Table tour at Sinksey. I love the fact that the winery is eco-conscious in every aspect they can be... from their wines to the food grown right on the property. The tour was very interesting and afterwards we were treated to an amazing spread on the terrace with a gre..."at view! The wines were REALLY great and we had to buy a few bottles to bring home. For a different and unique experience, head to Sinskey.. you will not be dissappointed!

"We recently enjoyed a tour and tasting at the Hendry Ranch. We were given lots of good info on wine-making and tasting. You can use the tour fee toward wine purchase at the end of the tour, which we were happy to do.
A great way to spend the afternoon."
"Napa was my first time doing a proper wine tasting and tour. This particular one was incredibly informative and fun! The owner, George Hendry, who is also an engineer served as our guide. I felt though his unique background he was able to explain everything about wines in an easy to understand manne..."r. By the end of the day I left with a great understanding about how to pair wines with food as well as the entire wine making process. The tour and tasting combo is $40, but it is waived with an equivalent purchase of wine which I found to be an awesome deal. To sum it up, this was the best wine tasting and tour I went on during my time in Napa, I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a gain useful knowledge about wine!
