"Almost entirely female, they are astute business people who by their numbers wield considerable political influence. Dealing mainly in agricultural produce, they have linkages with growers all over the country and sometimes even beyond our borders. Strong bonds are forged with growers sometimes to t..."he extent of pre-financing the farms. They have the first refusal with their suppliers and it's their leavings that are offered others. Then there is the phenomenon of "market queens"- they are the capitalists of the trade in fresh produce. They maintain a network of agents in all important buying centres, and are immediately informed of bargain prices. They receive all new sellers into markets and determined the mark-ups in their specific sections. There is also an aspect of welfare in their functions and oversee the well-being of their "subjects". They may determine which bulk transporter's wares may be accepted into their section. In brief, they have executive oversight.

"This was a beautiful surprise, winding down the dense hillsides to what felt like a secretive place on the peaceful lake shore. This is a real beauty of a spot, greeted by the warm welcome of our host Elodie and her family. We chose this place to relax before flying back home and it definitely lived..." upto that and more. Lazy days and evenings eating delicious food cooked from the heart using local ingredients and washed down with hibiscus juice, or a beer! As beginners on a horse, we were made to feel comfortable and wished the muscles were a little stronger so we could have gone even further afield. The treks near the ranch are beautiful, passing through small communities all greeting you with smiles and making you feel at ease, I'm sure this is to do with the wonderful harmony that has been carefully developed. Lots of great memories!

"I was visiting some family in Ghana and while I was over there I ended up wanting to do something different and because i loved horses and some friends told me about this lovely Horse place next to this awesome lake I just had to see it, so I contacted Elodie via email to see if i could come and hel..."p out or a couple of days, and that afternoon i got a response, and that's how it started.
She, her family, nanny and worker were so very welcoming and made sure I was comfortable and well fed, the food was amazing, and I really enjoyed the calmness of it all, working there was an experience I will never forget, as I had the funnest time and learnt a lot.
I really recommend this place to anyone who is in Ghana, the hospitality, food, horses and lovely surroundings are yet to be matched.
