The transportation is very convenient because the high-speed railway from Beijing to Chengde has been opened to traffic. After exiting the high-speed railway station, follow the signs to the bus stop which is nearer than taxi-rank. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the Fire Temple, and 3 minutes to walk to the Lizheng Gate, the main gate of the Summer Resort.
The Summer Resort Museum, with its rich historical and cultural value, is highly recommended for those who are interested in history. The museum's hanging screen displays are all national treasures. The watch museum is no inferior to the Palace Museum in Beijing. The museum with a large number of photos of the Empress Dowager Cixi is special.
Not native of Chengde can apply for an annual card to the resort with 180 yuan, which can be used for unlimited times within 365 days.

I never tire of this type of site seeing .I may well have seen thousands of temples before but nothing detracts from the beauty I found here .With a back drop of pure blue sky this was seen at it's best .I could have happily spent a lot longer here just to soak up the atmosphere .Would recommend

The Potala has a beautiful and infinite scenery. Temple on the mountain is magnificent, the layout is natural and is rich in change. It is almost the Buddhism architectural style. The main buildings are located on the top of the mountain. The layout and momentum of the whole temple imitate the Potala Palace in Lhasa, commonly known as "Potala Palace". Emperor qianlong received wubaxi-xing and held grand activities such as lecturing on scriptures, saying sayings and celebrating birthdays.

It was a lovely tour with a very learned tour guide. However the tourists were all over the place and a few "strays" came to join our group and listened to the tour guide. Those in my group who do not understand Mandarin took a back seat and walked quietly with the group. The museum is a must - see tourist spot, even without a tour-guide.

This temple has some great views from the upper levels. There are also nice views of the temple from the hill at the rear. This temple has some of the best views of the huge Potola Tibetan temple and valley - see my photos for the view. True, this is not the greatest temple in Chengde, but the hike to Hammer Rock is a must - and the hike starts here. Hike to Hammer Rocks and descend by the cable car or cable car path (if it's closed).

Bordering Mongolia, the national forest was the Emperor's training and hunting grounds during the Qing Dynasty. It has been well preserved and has many photo opportunistic locations.

This is another very atmospheric temple. Remember to take plenty of water with you as the only place to buy refreshments is the car park entrance.

Bishu Villa is very big and so much to see! Highly recommend the boat ride on the lake, although I also did the bus ride around the garden. Everybody gets a local guide before going into the Villa, very informative.

One of the quieter and more peaceful temples. The walk from the front gate through the pines is very nice. Be sure to see the wall paintings in Purdue Hall. There is a nice view of Putuozongcheng Miao and Xumifushouzhi Miao from the parking lot. From just outside the templa and road up to the temple, there is are good views of Pule Si. Otherwise, less spectacular than the other temples.

Exiting the Potala Palace and then taking a free electric cart by its gate, we quickly got to this palace that had received Panchen of Tibet in the past decades. We used the same admission ticket for both Potala Palace and this temple.

This palace is not as high as the Potala Place, nor as magnificent as it. But it’s truly worth our visit, and it's appropriate for both seniors and kids as well. It's one of the temples in town still managed by real monks.
