Parque das Aves is a conservation project in the Atlantic Rainforest near Foz do Iguassu, Brazil. We take in birds which have been rescued from animal trafficking or are for some reason no longer able to survive in the wild. We give them a home in their beautiful native rainforest. We love huge aviaries. We think birds should be able to fly, and have a great social life, and feed on the best, fresh, organic diet possible. We then breed a new generation of birds which are capable of being released back into the wild (and we have a number of projects that do exactly that.) We also support projects and research throughout Brazil. We plant thousands of trees a year, restoring degraded Atlantic Rainforest. The Parque das Aves thinks that education is one of our most important tasks. Sometimes it's as simple as giving people direct contact with these beautiful birds. It's amazing what that can do. We also educate thousands of local schoolchildren a year in special programs. Thank you for supporting Parque das Aves. We couldn't do it without you.

"My wife and I have seen Victoria Falls, Niagara Falls and now Iguassu. They are all worth visiting and have their own unique attributes. At Iguassu, if you are going at all, you should visit both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides, as they each have different views to offer. Unfortunately, even if ..."you cross only for a day to Argentina, there is a tax of $160 per person for entry to the country - however, still worth it.
The area of the falls is well laid out and there are excellent walking paths on both sides, even taking you out to directly over the falls on the Argentinian side.
If you take the boat trip be advised that there are no specific changing areas/rooms as was promised by our guides, ether before or after the boat ride. This meant that people were changing on the rocky stairs as they descended to board the boats and at the end, changing as they ascended stairs in another location. This is dangerous and needs to be fixed.
Otherwise, the falls were amazing.

"If you have a spare hour or two after visiting the falls on the Brazilian side then visit this park. There are a wide variety of birds and you can hold a macaw too. It will take you an hour or two to walk around. The birds are in cages but of big enough size to not offend anyone. Good gift shop if y..."ou need to do any shopping too!

"No words can do this justice!!!! Make sure you do both sides of the falls though. You need a couple of hours on the Brazil side. A bus takes you from the entrance to the falls and then you do a walk with stops along the way and finally a walk out to the falls where they all meet. You are very wet by..." the end of it but it's the best way to feel the falls. You need more time on the Argentinian side and expect to spend most of the day there. A small train takes you between the various areas. The devils throat (massive where the falls are most powerful), the start of the upper and lower circuit and the park entrance. Do the speedboat ride into the falls here - it's amazing and a bit like someone throwing buckets of water at you with your clothes on. You get time to take pictures first and then go into the falls. Be warned that you will get absolutely soaking wet and there isn't anywhere to change until you get back to the toilets. Take quick drying clothing and not jeans. The walkways of t...
