Since its initial construction in the late 1500’s it has gone through many transformations after having been completely destroyed by wars and fire. The castle you see today was actually built in 1931 and miraculously managed to survive the WW II bombings. You need to allow a good full day to visit the Castle, especially if you are traveling from another city like Kobe. There is a JR train station right nearby, (I believe it is the Kyobashi Station) and from there it is a short 5 minute walk to the Castle grounds. I’m not a rookie when it comes to aquarium visits either, having seen Monterey Bay, Okinawa and the Georgia Aquariums.
