This literature museum honors the great Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, who was exiled in Omsk between 1849-1853, an experience he described in his book, "Buried Alive in Siberia."

Established in 1878, this museum safeguarded valuable collections during World War II and, after the war, expanded its holdings to reflect the region's rapid social development, economic achievements, agricultural and industrial growth and local art.
