Nyoman Meja The Artist.Born in 1952 in Ubud, Bali, Nyoman Meja is primarily a self-taught painter.He studied briefly with Balinese painters Sinom, Wayan Lantur, and Serati.During contact with Rudolf Bonnet in 1978, Meja was encouraged to express himself honestly trough his own visual language, and thus increased his selfconfidence and determination to pursue his art.He has been an active member of the Ratna Wartha Foundation in Ubud since 1980. He participated in group exhibitions in the Netherlands in 1975 and Japan in 1997, and his work is exhibited regularly in Indonesia. Philosophy Nyoman Meja Gallery.As a Hindu, Nyoman Meja believes in the balance of all things.The purpose of this gallery is, primaliry, a venue for exhibiting and thus encouraging the work of young artists. It is Meja’s offering to the gods, and to his community.Amongst the superb collection of Meja’s work, you will also find outstading works by Indonesian artists, icluding.

Established in 1999, Gaya Art Space is a non-profit gallery with many functions similar to a private museum with an emphasis on cultural programming.We are known for continuous support of contemporary avant-garde works, and a number of our artists have represented Indonesia at the Venice Biennale. Made Wianta created Dreamland at Gaya before taking it to the 2003 Biennale. Krisna Murti filmed his 2005 Venice exhibition, Video Spa, at Gaya. Dadang Christanto, another Biennale artist, had his first Bali show here.Gaya Art News lists openings around Bali, along with other cultural events. Tuesday Evening Art Films present international movies, and our Funday Sunday children’s program brings our artists to Bali’s children in exploration of art using paints, paper, and clay. We are also a venue for other cultural events such as the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, the Indonesian Film Festival, the Bali Biennale, and many others.Gaya Art Space is a part of Gaya Fusion, a multi-dimensional art-and-life concept.
