- Juhi PatelMumbai, India8 contributionsI went to Wadi Shab in Jan'24 with a friend. Coming to Oman and missing this place is a crime. I planned the entire day trip with Abdullah (oman_raw_explorer) who coordinated the pickup from Muscat seamlessly and took us around the entire wadi. He is an experienced guide and a wonderful person. With his help, we were able to explore so many spots. He even showed me a great spot to cliff dive off and clicked amazing pictures. I would 10/10 recommend.Written March 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Harmesh KGurugram (Gurgaon), India221 contributionsThe pristine shiny marble flooring & the beautiful architecture is inspiring ! The entry is majestic while the garden was teaming with colourful flowers especially petunias. The inside of the opera house felt cool & grand … box office counter was inviting but there wasn’t going to be show in the near future!
The upscale showrooms of Lalique & other major jewellery stores gave a very posh & luxurious feel ! The Opera House is very well & centrally located well worth a visit even if no shows are runningWritten March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eva FBloomington, IL46 contributionsWe wanted to visit the "Green Mountain" from Muscat but did not have a 4WD. I contacted a local guide, Mr. Nasser bin Mansour Al-Zakwani (+968 9266 0379). He responded immediately and suggested a meeting point in Birkat Al Mouz. We drove there in our 2WD car and saved some money by not having to pay for a much more pricey trip to Jebel Akhdar using a guide from Muscat. Mr. Nasser first showed us the deserted mud village in Birkat Al Mouz (please do not skip having Karak Tea at the cafe next to the mud village! Best Karak I had during my extended stay in Oman!!!). After that, he took us for a 4-hour exploration of Jebel Akhdar. He navigated the curvy roads up to the mountain very safely, walked us through the villages at the top of the mountain, and shared with us his knowledge of the area. He was fun to be around and I highly recommend him as a guide for Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams, and other surrounding areas. Without him, even after an extended research, I would not be exactly sure where to go and what to visit up there. Plan at least a half-day for this trip, more time if you want to have lunch in one of the resorts at the top of the mountain and relax while enjoying the fascinating views. I hope to one day visit Jebel Akhdar during the March-April damask rose season!Written January 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MaximilianHong Kong, China291 contributionsMutrah Souq is a bustling and vibrant market, offering a fascinating glimpse into local culture and commerce. The variety of products available is impressive, making it a great spot for shopping and exploration. However, the experience is somewhat dampened by the occasional overzealousness of some vendors, which can be overwhelming. Despite this, it’s still a worthwhile visit for those interested in experiencing a traditional market atmosphere.Written January 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yorkshire Lad - The OriginalYork, UK1,642 contributionsSo glad we “gambled” and risked travelling on the 8km unpaved section of road, which, trust me CAN be driven on carefully if you only have a 2WD vehicle.
The end result is a geographical and geological marvel which really does in my opinion rival places like the Colca Canyon in Peru and the Grand Canyon in the USA.
We stopped 3km before the road ends at Wadi Ghul, so we could walk and check out a couple of viewpoints without the crowds which was a good thing to do. Then, we followed the trail down. Me stopping half way as I suffer from vertigo, but my wife skipped along the whole mountain path and saw some amazing views. This is a must do and I hope dear reader you do as I doubt you will be disappointed.Written January 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We returned to the car and drove a short distance to Bidiyah to get the tyres deflated ready for the desert. There then followed some driving to show us what angles the 4*4 could drive out and how to take the steep ridges without launching over the top.
We passed several small camp sites, some hobbled camels and a few other 4*4s before stopping so we could get out and have a wander. The sand was amazingly fine but a lot easier to walk on than expected and it was beautiful to see actual sand dunes. It was also rather hot! We spent maybe 15 minutes walking up and down dunes and taking photos before returning to the car.
After reinflating the tires we drove back to Muscat. It was a long way to go for 15 minutes but the overnight options were very expensive and it gave me the photos I wanted.Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. An unforgettable and thrilling experience especially if you’re into hiking and water activities, the scenery was also out of this world. Both women and men are expected to be conservatively dressed, both on the beach and in the water.
But what to do, you ask in despair? You want sun on your body and to flaunt that new bikini...
The solution is nearby. When you're done strolling up and down Qurum Beach, hop in your car and drive to the Capital Yacht Club.
Here, the entrance fee is OMR2, and for that amount, you get a sunbed, a parasol, the softest sand, and delightful bathing water, where you can even do a bit of snorkeling by the rocks at each end of the beach.
And yes, it's perfectly okay to sunbathe in a bikini and small Speedos here. Remember a towel, water, and a snack for a little hunger.Written November 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great views although you will need to walk uphill and then downhill to get to the viewpoints and the blowholes. Obviously outside of the Khareef season, the water will not come through the blowholes but it is beautiful and have breath-taking views. There is a café and toilet facilities in the car park area as wellWritten January 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
