This full day excursion is suitable for anyone, from those who wish to completely relax to those who want adventure and excitement. We board at the hotel and then set sail towards Prison Island, to see the remains of the prison built to condemn Zanzibari citizens to isolation and watch the giant tortoises shuffle through the trees, with the patience that old age brings. From there we will do some snorkeling with a guide and teacher to see the stunning array of coloured corals and tropical fish of the islands. Then hop back onboard and let us sail you away to a sand bank where brilliant birdlife exists. For the more active discover more underwater life around the sandbank and listen to stories from our crew about sailing the seven seas. We will slowly sail back to Stone Town after soaking up the sun and return back to the Serena Inn by 03:30pm, relaxed and fall more in love with Zanzibar than you thought imaginable!

"The stories of the slave trades have many myths. Read up before you go or get a guide that has proper training.
The structure of the church is in decent condition and currently a functional church. Most of the area that was the slave auction is no longer in existence. There are some rep..."licas but the ground itself is mostly the only part that remains of this place.
The pit with statues is a moving art piece that exemplifies the plight of chains and slavery.
The grounds will take about an hour or a little more to complete.

"This small island can be very deceiving. It has beautiful white sand beaches and surrounded by turquoise water it looks like another piece of tropical heaven. That is true if you can get over it's horrifying history as a slave prison. the site has preserved beautifully. the main building serving now..." as an expensive hotel. The hotel's restaurant is open for all visitors.
After the prison the other exciting attraction are the giant tortoises brought there by the British over 100 years ago. Some of them are very old. their age is marked on their shells with blue pains.I saw one that is 155 years old.
