Banks Peninsula near Christchurch, New Zealand is a must see for its stunning views, beautiful bays and quirky campgrounds. Little River is the gateway to the peninsula. The township has a hotel/pub, 2 cafes, a petrol station, art gallery, craft store and small museum. There are B&Bs, plus the Little River Campground in Okuti Valley Road. They have affordable campervan parks with power, cabins and tentsites set beside a river. The southern bays have some of the best surf, if you know the secret spots as well as good, safe swimming beaches, walking tracks and the Little River Rail Trail. It is a a place that is often over looked as tourists head to Akaroa. If you want to experience more than the usual, to get off the beaten track and really explore, ask at the craft station, which has an info centre.

The International Antarctic Centre is Christchurch’s leading visitor attraction, located in a unique working Antarctic campus. Open every day of the year, including Christmas Day.
"The pop up retail in the shipping containers in now over a year old - known as Restart the Heart. The colour, flowers and positive sense of people with a can do attitude is uplifting for the human spirit. Shows what can be done despite such devastation. The bike station opposite Ballantynes is cleve..."r - all the tools a bike rider would ever need available for the public.

"On your own, as a couple, or with the family, this is a must do in Christchurch. Of international standards, the International Antarctic Centre is a fabulous activity. What impressed us was the range of interactive activities, including the snow & ice experience, the Antarctic storm, the penguin enc..."ounter and the HD movie theatre. Although nearly twice the price, the 4D extreme theatre and the Hagglund ride gave us a whole lot more than twice the value. Even though we bought a family pass online and saved $5 there was bit of a wait to get in (a streamlined ticketing process would be welcome!). However the welcome from the staff, and their genuine interest in us throughout our visit, made it a friendly and personal experience. We'll definitely be back next time we are in Christchurch.

"Having traveled extensively throughout the last number of years the south island New Zealand has to be thee most beautiful place that I have ever visited. We began in Christchurch and drove to Dunedin before flying from Queens town to Auckland. On our first day we visited the botanic gardens in C..."hristchurch and this was to set the pace for the rest of our holiday.Still remains one of the great attractions despite everything that has being thrown at them. I am from Ireland and my only regret is the flying time to return, however please God I hope this will be possible in the non too distant future what more can I say only Christchurch Absolutely Excellent.
