It has direct access to the car park, an ensuite and second toilet & basin. The main bedroom offers one queen size bed with basic kitchen facilities (small microwave, fridge, jug, toaster). The second bedroom offers one queen and one single bed. Both rooms have a television and access to free wifi. The area is very suitable for a family of 5 or 2 couples interested in a farm stay type short stay. The property consists of 100 acres; 15 acres of vines and the remainder is grazed by sheep. A majestic lake used for irrigation exists along the creek and koalas often roam through the manna gums. The cellar door has been placed in the end of one of the original farm sheds and was part of the Winery. It is open most days & offers home made cakes, Mocopan Bruno Rossi espresso coffee, Tea Blossom & the local: Simply Teatime Teas and numerous local produce including a range of local wines. Pierrepoint Cellar Door has a north easterly aspect capturing the sunshine and overlooking the numerous breeds of poultry wandering amongst the vines. To the south of the homestead, Mt Napier appears on the horizon beyond the Muddy Creek valley and productive farming land. The Tarrington area is a picturesque, undulating landscape. The township named as Hochkirk by its German founders in 1853, changed its name to Tarrington in 1916 due to world events at the time. It has maintained a strong and proud German heritage. The town boasts one of the best cafes/restaurants in the district Cafe Catalpa, is family owned and operated and is only 4km from "Pierrepoint". Guest Access Besides the rear of the house, guests are welcome to wander around the garden, farm and vineyard (after sterilising the soles of their shoes!) including the cellar door. « less

The mine is renowned (ambiguously) for being the hottest mine in Australia. The Gold mining operations in Stawell have been in operation more recently since the first owners commenced in the eighties. The current owners are Crocodile Mining and have several other mines. The Gold mine has a large viewing area along Reefs Road that runs alongside the portal that enters the mine and continues for approx. 2-3 kilometres in many different directions under the city of Stawell. The observation area has a commentary device activated by visitors to the attraction and visitors can observe the large mining machinery working the mine and also listen to the mining history in Stawell (since 1870's). There are many facets to the visitor area including a heavy bar that repesents the wieght of a REAL gold ingot bar (similar to those poured at the mine in the foundry). The mine at times offers observation tours to SOME areas of the mine IF the request is reasonable and can be negotiated with the owners/administration of the mining operations. « less
