Are you dreaming of a real authentic adventure? Longing for silence and tranquility?Do you wonder how it feels relaxing outside your tent, after spending a full day exploring one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, using the most environmental friendly means of transport ever – the kayak? If you long for some of the above you should check out Njord. We have been guiding people in the outdoors since 1999, given thousands of customers a great day out – or the adventure of a lifetime – kayaking the beatiful fjords of Norway.Western Norway is the area for our activities. Njord specialize in kayak and wilderness adventures, in the fjords and by the North Sea coastline. We have bases in Flåm and – if you are in for a real adventure – the amazing archipelago of Bulandet. For the last years, we have set the standard for adventure tourism in Norway, building a happy and competent crew to give our customers the best of service. Our philosophy is that our main product is everlasting and positive vacation memories. We have a flexible and adaptable organisation and are fully focused on providing the best service possible to our customersWe have a policy of training and employing local guides. FjordSafari gives you a close up experience of the World Heritage Nærøyfjord! In open fast boats we get most time at the highlights of the fjords. Farms are hanging over the fjord and waterfalls flying down the mountains. Learn about the rich cultural history. Spend time watching the wildlife as seals, small wales and sometimes large eagles fly bye.We turn the boat so you get the best point of view thru the whole adventure!

"The rail trip from Flam to Myrdal takes you through magnificent scenery with a video commentary annoucing points on the route etc. The most incredible feat of engineering is the 180 degree tunnel and the ruling gradient which requires the power of 2 locomotives. Plenty has been said about the scenic..." features so i do not propose to run through them. The main issue, as with many things in Norway, is the cost, around £45 return for an adult and £33 for concessions. By any standards that is very expensive for a 20KM or 12mile rail trip powered by Hydro Electricity ! and may put off anyone on a tight budget. Even more horrific was the charge if booked on our cruise ship - £67 per head. If you are cruising, the station is but a short walk and tickets easily purchased. I know it is human nature but many rush to catch the first possible train hence it can be crowded but you can avoid all this by simply taking a later trip.

"We had booked the FjordSafari in Flam in advance and when it rained upon the arrival of our cruise ship in the Flam harbour, we were certainly expecting the worst. However, the FjordSafari turned out to be the best excursion of all. Not only were the operators super, super friendly and cheerful but..." they also equipped us with all the necessary gear to keep us warm and dry - even despite the rain. And the scenery we came to see simply is beyond words - spectacular is too lame and breathtaking just doesn't cover it. So, just go and see for yourself - rain or shine.

"If going on a cruise, book your train tickets through the cruise line, or else the train will be sold out.
This journey climbs 3,000 feet into complete snow covered terrain and stops at a mountain chalet for waffles , jam and cream ,and coffee or tea. You have to wait there about an hour for the tr..."ain to return as there is only 1 track. The ride itself, passes the old town of Flam with its church from the 1600's and many gorgeous waterfalls. There is no bathroom on the train, only at the chalet.
To avoid the crowds using first floor bathrooms, go to the second floor for bathrooms, then walk to the upstairs terrace for a lovely view.
