Read the history ,this was the longest tunnel in the world when it was built !
Bath/ London-trains go under the bridge regularly beneath the bridge 1/2 mile up from Box village. We stayed at the excellent Lorne house nearby annd ate at the Bengal Bear Restaurant in the village . From delicious cupcakes to silk scarves, teddy bears, and jewellery there's something for everyone. From the usual to the unusual. From beautifully turned wooden objects to greetings cards, children's games, and knitted toys. Creativity abounds. A great outing on the first Saturday of the month with coffee available in the adjacent cafe.Written August 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hazel SCorsham, UK276 contributionsA great church to visit that is situated just outside the main grounds of Corsham Court. Car parking available immediately outside although limited. Stroll around Corsham Court afterwards and take tea in a cafe on the high street to relax after all that walking.Written November 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - That GWiltshire, UK28 contributionsA large venue with lots of great facilities including a swimming pool, climbing wall, library and rooms to rent for events!
I've enjoyed my time at the centre and though not always in the best condition (it seems to get trashed some evenings by youngsters missspeending their youth) on the whole the facilities are nice. I particularly liked the climbing wall and pool.
There are gym facilities but I have yet to use these.Written January 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Opens the first weekend in each month.Written December 27, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - That GWiltshire, UK28 contributionsA brilliant roped climbing wall, though small, it's well equipped and the staff, particularly Joel, ooze enthusiasm. I didn't have my own equipment, but that was no problem as all the kit was included free of charge. There are facilities to bottom rope and lead climb and the routes seemed to span from 3b or 3+ upto, I believe, 7b.
An ace time was had by my friends and I, we'll certainly head over that way again for another session. The adult 'sessions' are what you might expect going into any larger commercial climbing wall, but with Joel & his staff on hand to provide coaching and advice it felt a much more close knit community and very welcoming with such great scope to push through the grades with so much help and coaching on hand. That being said, the staff weren't overly pushy and offered their help but it certainly felt we could have been left to it more if we wanted to!
I've nicked some pictures from the wall's facebook page as I forgot to take any of my own, and I saw there were none listed up here.Written March 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff (especially in the bar and dining room) were friendly and helpful, the course was in great condition and offered some wonderful views.
