The Bruce Botanical Food Gardens (BBFG)has 1.5 acres of landscaped space and everything is edible in one way or another. We focus on heirloom food plants that are also rare, very rare, endangered, or world food plants. Besides the rustic, food filled environment that is a wonderful escape from the hectic lifestyles many of us lead, this site is also a social enterprise. As a registered non-profit corporation, we have a mandate to address: levels of food insecurity, sustainable agriculture, and the plight if the small family farm through hands on, educational programming. Come to the Township of Huron-Kinloss and explore The Secrets of the Back 40, travel their award winning Ice Cream Trail, visit the site of the newest heirloom apple in Bruce County-The Ripley Apple (under development by the BBFG) on the newly designated Ripley Apple Rail Trail, and see the historic Lewis Cemetery where settlers of the area in the early 19th century settled after leaving the Isle of Lewis Scotland. Well worth the trip to the eastern shores of Lake Huron. « less

It's the gateway to a municipal harbour, one of the deepest on Gerogian Bay. A peaceful place to relax in the summer and take in the crystal clear waters and magnificent cliffs just opposite the lighthouse. Winter is just as wonderful as the ice builds up on it and the stormy waves crash over the jetty. Well worth a stop in Lion's Head to see it. « less
