Sankt Goar Attractions: What to do & Places to Visit in Sankt Goar
"On our recent visit to Germany we had the opportunity to stop in Sankt Goar. We stayed in Rudescheim and took the boat tour up the Rhine to St Goar, stayed for three hours and took the last boat home to Rudescheim. The boat trip was great by the way. The river, surrounding towns and the unending ..."stream of castles are fascinating. Cost was about 25 Euros round trip per person. Ride is about 2 hours downstream and three hours upstream.
In Saint Goar, we hiked up to the Rhienfels Castle and we were glad that we did. The ruins are reasonably well intact and they have laid out a nice unguided tour that takes you through the place in an organized fashion. The place is intact enough to give you a good idea of what it was like when it was in operation. There is enough written description to make it interesting. There is also a pretty good museum for more information which has a good model of what everything looked like when the robber barons were guarding the river. There is eno...

"We are not really wine enthusiasts but when we had wine tasting we really loved it then bought two bottles of those Eiswein, one for our Paris trip and the other one home, Stefan was very accommodating, knows his products well and given us a good discounts because its our silver wedding anniversary..." that day. Thanks to Rosi too who helped my wife to choose her favorite Cuckoo clock even Stefan's son gave us KD Cruise Map & paraphernalia. It's been so nice to experience this kind of memorable things in life with exploring some kind of
extraordinary wines of Rhein Valley, famous with their Reisling- this year they were very lucky to have their grapes frozen on their vines... even expensive- "money is not an object" - as other say... It's a must to visit Stefan's, he also
presented me a small token of appreciation that I will cherish for long time. Thanks Rosi & Stefan for the great time and making our trip to Sank Goar, "The Best Part Of Our Day..!"

"I love exploring old buildings and thinking about how people would have lived when they were in use. Castle Rheinfels was a great place to explore. It was once an amazingly large castle. Even as a ruin it was huge. I wandered around the site for 2 hours finding new passages, great views of the ri..."ver and villages, and dark tunnels I really wanted to wanted to explore. Most of the history of the site I learned from places outside the castle. There is a little museum on the site. However, the true experience is wandering the ruins. Unlike many sites in the US that rope off anything slightly dangerous, there are dark passages that you can venture into and stairways the descend into darkness. If I had a flashlight, I would have been there another 2 hours! I highly recommend this site for those who like to explore history on their own.
