Kamars, Etruscan name of the town of Chiusi, is the pottery workshop owned by Flavio Ferdinando Foderini. Founded on 1958 by the father Fernando, together with the Maestro Don Manfredo Coltellini, it has been the first artistic workshop born in the area of Chiusi. Still today it bases its activity on the features of the craftsman shops of the tuscan Renaissance, affirmed in all their magnificence with Luca della Robbia during the 1400.The familiar management, the meticulosity for learning this trade and the rigorousness in the hand-made production, are the “rules” that are handed down from father to son together with the secrets born from a so long experience of half century. Flavio Ferdinando, young undergraduate in architecture, is a real fond of art, ancient cultures but above all a great lover of old majolica.

"With Chiusi as a home base, we visited Rome and Florence and all their major sites. GREAT trip. Very nice air conditioned rooms, friendly staff, wonderful food and wines."
"We stopped for fresh oranges on the side of the road and noticed this ceramic shop. What a lucky find for us. the owner and his mother are perfectly charming and gracious. The ceramics are of the highest quality and all are made by the owner. The studio is right at the shop. We were given a tour and..." all our questions were answered. the selection of pieces and motifs is large. Classical designs, local landscapes, and even a few Picasso-like designs. Here is the place to find gifts for everyone. I wish we had had more time to shop or to choose pieces we could have shipped bck to America. I admired a small Etruscan ram's head and was given it as a take home gift. Such generosity of spirit was heartwarming.

"actually I often go and bring visiting friends, and everyone, especially children, love the underground Roman and Etruscan tunnels and the ancient cistern. Wonderfully cool, too, on a hot summer day!"
