Colchester Zoo is one of the finest Zoos in Europe with over 260 rare species in 60 acres. See "Playa Patagonia" with its 24 metre tunnel under the water to view sea lions swimming above your head and "Dragons of Komodo" for the infamous Komodo Dragons. At the "Spirit of Africa" you can see the breeding group of African elephants and at "Kingdom of the Wild" there's Zebras, Ostriches, White Rhinos, and Giraffes in a huge savannah style enclosure. Orangutan Forest opens 2009. Don't miss the chance to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself plus lots of other daily displays.

Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

"I go to the gym here, and now it's revamped it's very nice.
We also treat ourselves to Aqua Springs, which is a good relaxing afternoon.
On the downside, I do find it frustrating that the staff consistently don't ask customers to put on the overshoes when entering the changing rooms at the springs.
..."People go in there from the street, who knows what they've stepped in?

"Comparing this theatre to my local, The Chichester Festival, I have to say given the choice, the Mercury would definitely win.
The intimacy and the quality of the productions I have seen here have been superb. You may not always have the big names here but you certainly don't miss out on the high st..."andard of the acting and indeed in many cases this is preferable.
It's a shame I no longer live close to enjoy it more frequently.
