Skiing and snowboarding the whole year round, with 365 days of snow – you can only find this in Zermatt. As the highest altitude, largest and most efficiently developed snow sport location in the Alps, Zermatt offers an absolute snow guarantee. In winter, 350 km of piste attracts skiers of all levels. Unlimited skiing and snowboarding between Switzerland and Italy – no other destination can offer this. And in the summer? Enjoy the 20 km of pistes on the Zermatt Theodul Glacier. Carve and relax alongside national ski teams from the whole of Europe. With the Matterhorn always in sight.

"We did both the Bernina Express train and bus. We caught the train from Davos as we wanted to spent a day in the alps prior to the train and didn't hear good reviews about Chur. We were glad we chose Davos, beautiful area, stayed at the Hotel Grischa which is directly opposite the train station, ama..."zing hotel, they say 4 I say 5 star.
The train trip is great, hard to take photos due to window reflection and with only 1 stop of a few minutes at the peak you had to be quick. We did the trip with the family and changed from train to bus in Torano then spent the night in Ligano. Ligano and Como area are truly beautiful and amazing scenery, so glad we did this trip but also with the towns we chose to start and finish it.

The funicular railway journey is an experience - I'm not good on these things, but the views are amazing. We chose to walk from the mid-point bac..."k which reduces the price of your ticket, so it is worth thinking about this option (it is referred to as the hiking ticket). The views from the top are amazing, but check the weather before you go as it can be cloudy at the top. We sat outside at the cafe / restaurant on the deck in the sunshine, loving the views and the experience. Then on the way back down we left the funicular at the mid-point to experience the woods and the walk down to the start point. This is a steep walk and you need proper shoes and walking poles. I'm relatively fit and walk around 5 miles a day, but 2 days later I know I have muscles that I have never used before! However the views of the lake as you walk down...

"This is ALL about the journey which is spectacular! The destination, St Moritz is pricey and overrated. My tip would be to take an early train, get off for a couple of hours and visit the FREE glacier garden at hidden gem Cavaglia - bring sandwiches for picnic at lookout point. Stunning"
