The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

"We booked a guided tour (at an extra 2 euros) to both the Duomo and the Baptistry. REALLY good value. The guide brought the whole place to life. Don't miss the demonstration of the echo which seems to take place every 30 minutes - and the good view of the front of the Duomo from the gallery."
"We are an Australian family of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 13. We cannot say enough nice things about our time in Tuscany with Andreas. He was efficient, happy, great with teenagers, and just made use of every minute we had to do fun things in Tuscany. He picked us up from Pisa airport and within a ..."few minutes we were touring around not just the Leaning Tower but other beautiful parts of Pisa.He then took us to a rustic and charming restaurant in the countryside and helped us to order lunch Italian style. It was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of our whole trip. We had emailed back and forth a bit before we arrived with ideas of what we wanted to do in our 3 days in Tuscany and so we had a rough plan which Andreas then discussed when we met- he was knowledgeable and flexible and we felt we saw so much more than if we had tried to hire a car and go alone or go on a fixed tour. I recommend you get in and book early as I don't think you could find anyone better!

"We did a half day tour of Pisa, with Albatravel Group Firenze (Gartours), which was booked by our travel agent.
We left the bus and walked the distance to the walled area where the Tower, the Piazza del Duomo (and Cathedral), Baptistery and Cemetery were located.
We opted to have the entry to the ..."Tower included in our tour price. The entry to the Duomo was included in the tour.
We had a very lively, knowledgeable and funny local guide, who took us through the Duomo and explained the history of the area and its importance to the local people.
We climbed the almost 300 steps to the top of the tower, which was physically demanding. The good thing was that once we arrived at the top and saw the bells and the great view, we forgot how tired we were! Of course we had to descend and by that stage there was another group going up and it got very tight!
There wasn’t enough time to visit the Baptistery and Cemetery and the entry to these is extra.
We were able to buy fruit and snacks fro...
