The Trieste Natural History Museum is the oldest and the most important Scientific Museum of Trieste, with more than 2 millions of specimens mostly from the Adriatic Sea and the Karst. Founded in 1846, it is now undergoing a renovation of its exhibition rooms. Among the exposed specimens of international importance, there is the famous dinosaur Tethyshadros insularis (nicknamed Antonio), a new genus of dinosaur. It is the biggest Italian Dinosaur, and the most complete skeleton among medium to large-sized dinosaurs (4 meters) found in Europe in the 20th century. Another important specimen is the “Lonche Mandible”, the first known evidence of dental filling in Prehistory.In the newest rooms are noticeable the "Giants of the sea and of the earth", the "Theatre of the Skeletons" and the "Cycle of food chains".
