Twentieth century theatre need for innovative venues, and there have been numerous experiments with renovating industrial buildings. India theatre is a highly original initiative in this respect, a theatre open to experimentation, with artistic languages, where people can experience live performances in a different way. It is located in the citadel of the former Mira Lanza factory, a large industrial site on the banks of the Tiber in an extremely evocative part of the cityLa ricerca di spazi per forme sceniche è una necessità del teatro del Novecento e con esperimenti di ristrutturazione di edifici di archeologia industriale. In questo senso, il Teatro India rappresenta un'esperienza che sintetizza l'idea di un luogo aperto alla sperimentazione dei linguaggi e uno spazio dove condividere una diversa modalità di fruizione del teatro. È situato nella cittadella dell'ex fabbrica Mira Lanza, un insediamento industriale sulle rive del Tevere in una zona fortemente evocativa.

Teatro Olimpico SpA nasce da un'azione collettiva volta a salvaguardare un luogo di cultura, il teatro esistente fin dagli anni '30, che il pubblico romano rischiava di perdere.Fino alla fine degli anni '70 la sala alternava musica e cinema, ma quando la societa proprietaria dell'immobile e l'Ente Cinematografico Italiano fallirono il Teatro Olimpico fu messo in vendita. Il Presidente dell'Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Adriana Panni, promosse quindi una grande sottoscrizione, unendo molti cittadini in una Societa per Azioni che lo acquisto nel 1980.Da allora il Teatro e sede stabile dei concerti della Filarmonica, ma anche un teatro a tempo pieno con una sua programmazione ed un suo pubblico affezionato.
