  "We decided to take the combination boat and bus trip to Linz and back to Passau. There are 3 options if you want to do the round trip. At first we thought that we would do the boat there and back, but the very helpful man at the booking office said that this would not give us time to look around Lin..."z and recommended the boat and bus combination, which we took. The boat ride was delightful, watching the pretty German and Austrian villages which line the Danube, from our viewing point on the top deck. The boat stopped at a few places along the way to let people on and off. The staff on board were very friendly and helpful. One of the perks that came with the trip was free entrance to the Museum of the month in Linz and for this you get another ticket from the boat company when you purchase your original ticket. Be careful when you use your ticket in Linz though, the person in the Lentos museum wanted our boat ticket and not our museum ticket, and this left us without a return bus ticket ... " More >

To get there take the shuttle bus in front of the town hall (the Rathaus) on the banks of the Danube (Donau). It was 5.5 euros for a return ticket for a family - it apparently was also 5.5 euros for an individual. Keep you bus ticket as you will need it if you are going to take the shuttle back, but also because you will get a 1 euro discount on your ticket into the museum if you have to buy one. " More >
