Westport House is the West of Ireland’s most significant historical home and premier visitor experience. Built in 1730 on the ruins of a previous castle of legendary Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley – and complete with original architecture, antiques, dungeons, wax work displays and exhibitions – it is home to her direct descendants: The 11th Marquess of Sligo and his family. Stunning scenery, architectural magnificence, beautifully manicured gardens and a Pirate Adventure Park combine with a remarkable history - that encompasses Ireland’s notorious Pirate Queen, rebellions, slavery and famine - to provide a treasure trove of memorable, awe-inspiring and fun experiences for all age groups. Westport House & Pirates’ Adventure Park is located off the main Westport to Louisburgh Rd (R335). Turn right at Westport Quay.
