"Great docent. The church combines interesting history with good architecture. Make sure that you note the side altars and they have their own stories. "
"A must see for any visitor to Killarney. The stories of the various families who owned this house and their acquisition of some beautiful pieces of furniture is interesting . I was especially interested in the kitchen.
The docent knew her stuff and was clear in explaining things. She was attentive..." to everyone in the group especially the kids.
I was a little upset with her when she said in response to a question about the nationality of the staff in the house. After explaining that the owners usually brought their staffs over to this house from their other venues she said: "Well you see, the Irish weren't educated'
This of course is a slur and I'm surprised no one corrected her.

"You can get there by conventional methods but we elected to take the jaunting carts around the national park which had magnificent views and wonderful gardens. WE were dropped off at Ross Castle where we took some motor boats out across the lake. It was a glorious day so the open motor boats were id..."eal but I think that they would be quite inhospitable if it was raining or the lake was rougher. The driver was informative and cracked a lot of jokes and according to him we were able to reach more places via the motor boat compared to the larger covered boat. We were dropped off at Innisfallen abbey and from there to Muckross house. The grounds and the rhododendrons were spectacular and the house itself was very impressive as well. The tourguide was very informative and it was very interesting to hear about how the owners of the house had lived. You can't take photos inside the house which is a shame. Definitely a place to put on the agenda when you visit Killarney.
