A native of Edinburgh, James will provide an historical account of each attraction visited. His goal is to help you get the best from your camera and show you how to compose professional shots. If your camera has the ability to shoot in manual mode, James is confident that after four hours with him, you will never go back to any of the programmable modes ever again. James shows you how to take each photograph and guarantees that each participant will take home professional looking images that can be displayed and enjoyed for many years to come. The tours are aimed at all levels of photographer, from absolute beginner to experienced professional. James does not use confusing jargon, preferring to explain things in a simple to understand manner. James is friendly, polite and encouraging. The tours start at 10am daily (Monday - Saturday) and last approximately 4 hours. Edinburgh Photography Tours were established in 2010 and have been operating successfully for four years. As with all great ideas, you will always find less creative people try to imitate a successful company. Please do not confuse our company with cheap imitations. We work very hard to ensure our clients have a first class experience on our tours and we continue to strive for excellence every day. « less

Your host/guide on the Edinburgh Enlightenment Walks is Stuart Usher. He meets walkers outside Usher Hall, Scotland's premier concert hall and an Edinburgh Landmark. Usher Hall was donated to Edinburgh by his family which has been associated with Scotland, and Edinburgh in particular, for centuries. Stuart was also the subject of a Channel Four Cutting Edge Documentary in 2002 which is viewable on youtube. Edinburgh has everything: Its huge Castle sitting on the plug of an ancient (and thankfully dormant!) volcano, its Palace a mile from the Castle and connected by the Royal Mile, Its ancient Public and Coffee houses some of which date back to the 1400's. Also the many incredible people which Edinburgh produced or was home to over the centuries such as the world famous Robert Burns, Scotland's National Poet and Hero; David Hume the Philospher and Man of Letters; Sir Walter Scott the Historical Romance Writer; Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of "Dr Jekyll and Hyde" and "Treasure Island"; Arthur Conan Doyle the creator of Sherlock Homes and the bumbling Dr Watson! Nor can Adam Smith, the Father of Modern Economics and Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone,be omitted, amongst many other famous men and women. Included in the tour: Entry into St Giles Cathedral and the National Galleries of Scotland where Walkers can view many paintings by the Titans of the Art World such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt and Van Dyck, amongst many others.A visit to an old Edinburgh Public House where Walkers will be treated to refreshments by Stuart. Excluded: Entry into Edinburgh Castle, Scott Monment and Usher Hall. « less
