Avray Tipping, friend of Gertrude Jekyll and Editor of Country Life magazine, they were completed in 1922 and are probably the best example of their type in Wales. With sculpted topiary, a sunken garden, a summerhouse, walled gardens, fountains, lily ponds and a bowling lawn leading on to wooded walks, they are a national treasure not to be missed. Now open to the public on a regular basis, they are showcasing contemporary sculptures by local and well-known British artists. The collection features hundreds of sculptures in a wide variety of mediums, sizes and styles situated throughout the garden and offering the opportunity to view and purchase beautiful sculpture with an outstanding backdrop.Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 3 May - 29 September, 11am - 6pm. Annual entrance to the gardens is £4 (pay once and return the rest of the year for free!) Discounts for pre-booked group visits and coach companies. « less

Caldicot Castle’s impressive structure is surrounded by an idyllic 55 acre Country Park. You will be able to travel through time and discover the home of Welsh castle life, from medieval times to the twentieth century. The castle was developed as a fortress by Royal hands in the Middle Ages and restored as a Victorian family home. The river Nedern winds its way through the park and the wildlife pond is home to a variety of wildfowl. « less
