Neat little village library. We were not in Burford too long but one of our group is a librarian so the stop was almost mandatory! Nice little entrance, wonderful building.

This is a lovely church in Swinbrook in the Cotswolds, fairly typical of the churches in the Cotswold villages in its age and peaceful charm. However, it is also notable for having the ornate tombs and effigies of the Fettiplaces, a prominent local family, in side. In addition, the churchyard has the graves of siblings of the later prominent local family, the Mitfords, some of whom were strident fascists and Nazi sympathizers during the WWII era. One of these, Diana, married prominent fascist Oswald Mosley.

This is an idyllic bit of British countryside...field alongside River Windrush, beautiful trees, cattle peacefully chewing the cud and in the middle of the field and ancient church. Worth visiting for the Medieval wall paintings alone but a great little church all round. Credit to the flower arrangers too.

Quirky quiet little museum. Stairs steep and not for the unfit or disabled. Many items of local interest. We are so glad we went.

It was a delight to wander around the beautiful grounds of Asthall Manor, set amidst stunning Cotswolds scenery, with more than 300 sculptures dotted around. It was so well laid out with little pathways or openings through hedges leading to yet more sculptures. Because it’s so well spread out, it didn’t feel too crowded and made excellent use of all the space available, including some rooms inside the Manor plus the local church. A really great day out.

This is a delightful country house where the owner has tended the garden with love, care and imagination. I went there on a special art occasion - something the owner specialises in - and it was just like being at home amongst civilised, well heeled people.

As someone who loves to visit antique shops, this was certainly a place to visit. I got what I was looking for and also went to their other shop and got other items also. Pleasant chap who was a volunteer on duty,

This is a typical village church, small but very old and charming with nice details. It is next to Asthall Manor and when we were there, there was an art exhibition going on at the manor grounds and in the church, with sculptures set up throughout. This is a pleasant old church to see. It is especially notable for the surviving old frescoes inside, not very common to find in English churches for a variety of reasons, including the events of the Protestant Reformation, Henry VIII's break with the Catholic church, and the Commonwealth under Oliver Cromwell.

It seems we've been quite lucky on our Burford shopping spree. What fun to take a break and discover the Schotten Antiques shop on Main or High Street. If you are looking for a gift for one who has just about everything, this might be your stop! Or....if you know a sports nut, this place will also be of interest. (I am related to a golf pro. First things first. I sent a picture to him of the antique golf clubs with the website for Schotten! Knew he might be very interested. As I no nothing about golf, and since I couldn't fit a club into my suitcase, I thought it best that he ordered one for himself. The clerk told me that shipping might be about $75?) Up the stairs for more treasures. Seems there's a terrific buy in the desk that is constructed out of airplane parts! Then there are hunting memorabilia and ......etc. The building, itself, is something to gawk at. Worth a visit, I predict, if you are an athlete, especially. Nice way to freely discover a new "museum".
