Its' rustic charm and great ale house ambiance has made it very popular with locals and travelling customers. An entrant in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the past ten years, the Lion has a virtual beer festival every week. All day, every day, there are at least 11 cask ales available from different breweries, including local breweries such as Blue Monkey, Castle Rock, Nottingham Brewery and Dancing Duck. Regional breweries include Batemans's, Greene King, Bass and Black Sheep alongside other regional ales from Fullers, Timothy Taylor, Hopback and Oakham. As well as a huge range of cask ales the pub also boasts a Cider Bar. New for 2012 The Lion recognised the massive growth and demand for cider and pledged to stock at least 10 traditional ciders at any given time, as well as a small range of bottled ciders from Weston's, Thatchers and Kopparberg. The beer cellars at the Lion are amazing. Two floors down and formed from one of Nottingham's natural caves the cellars here are amongst the deepest in the city.Live music at the Lion is as legendary as Robin Hood!! The Sunday Lunchtime jazz session is an institution. Local and travelling bands play a variety of sounds on Friday and Saturday nights and you can be kept updated as to who is playing next via the website or their Facebook page. The pub also has a great reputation for food with their brand new Rock 'N' Roll Burger Co. Menu drawing in crowds from afar. We are serving the full selection of 50's inspired burgers Monday to Saturday from 12 noon till 6pm. Described as an 'overnight sensation' the menu lists 25 different burgers including venison, chicken, lamb, fish, pulled pork, bacon and egg, locally sourced beef plus five vegetarian options! Plus the new special dessert menu "Drive-In Sundae" with an impressive selection of 10 ice cream sundaes themed around Hollywood's golden age. With a selection that good and burgers from only £6.50 There is something for everyone. Each burger is made to the highest quality encased in imported brioche buns with your choice of sides all served on a camping tin plate. Summers at The Lion have always been the busy time. There is an excellent beer garden and elevated patio adjacent to the well lit car park. In the winters real fires and log burners make for a warm and friendly atmosphere inside. « less

BrewDog Nottingham rises from the ashes of an abandoned, 100 year-old factory building whose exposed brick work, dark wood floors and ornate industrialism is utterly befitting of the city's historic Lace Market. Juxtaposed against miles of soulless, mega-brand pub chains, BrewDog Nottingham is a veritable craft beer oasis where you can enjoy twelve progressive draft beers, hundreds of incredible bottled beers, artisan snacks and live music from local musicians. « less
