"Visited on the recommendation of a friend. Enjoyed mooching. Loved the cooks' shop. Made some useful purchases for gifts. Enjoyed earring at the cafe/restaurant. No chips. Plenty of other good choices. Will return. "
"Garden & lodge created by Sir Thomas Tresham 1595. His son was involved in The Gun Powder Plot. As a consequence the family lost their fortune. Fascinating building with an equally fascinating history. Beautifully restored gardens, heritage orchards, terraces, moats and viewing mounds. Another Natio..."nal Trust site ,definitely worth a visit.

"Like a number of other reviewers, we came here 'on the way' to somewhere else. We saw it in the NT handbook and thought we'd give it a go. Can really recommend it on a sunny day, just to sit in the peace and enjoy an interesting building. So good to be able to walk around inside the walls of the bui..."lding. It is positioned in the middle of a field up a long track. The staff were very friendly and the free guided audio tour helpful, if a bit amdram in parts. There was also a tea shop but the need to return to the dreaded A14 meant we didn't sample this. Basically, a really interesting place to visit if you have a few ours and you are passing.
