Over... more » Owner description: Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we’re trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don’t just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. « less

Owner description: Making really great single malt whisky in England is paramount to what we stand for here at St. George's. Why England?... more » Owner description: Making really great single malt whisky in England is paramount to what we stand for here at St. George's. Why England? Why not? We have fantastic water in the Breckland aquifer beneath our feet, we have the barley, the maltings, the yeast and now the distillery. We don't add colour, we don't add flavour, we let the barrels do that for us. Our whisky is batch made by hand with no computers, matured in fine casks, bottled on site using our own water and is non chill-filtered. We are really proud of these things and believe you will taste the difference too. The Distillery is open daily from 10am - 5.30Pm throughout the year (with the exception of Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year's day), running regular tours of the working part of the distillery. « less

This is a fantastic day out with plenty to do, whatever the weather!Come and meet all our rare breed animals, who are all eager for a bit of fuss and attention. Walk about in the petting pens with our tamest residents. Wander along to our Animal Encounter sessions, and learn more about the animals from our friendly staff, whilst getting to hold and pet some of them. There are usually baby animals to see, starting with lambing from Feb through to Easter, regular litters of piglets and the infamous, naughty baby goats, who cause great hilarity with their antics. The adventure playground is a must for all our younger visitors, with trampolines, climbing frames and football pitch, through to ride on tractors and our enormous undercover sand pit and straw barn, where children can jump and play in the straw bales – always a favourite. For those who want to sit back and relax, why not take a tractor tour of Church Farm, or take advantage of our comfortable sofas in the indoor Treehouse play area. Let the children run around while you enjoy a tea or coffee, and maybe even a slice of homemade cake! We have a new area in the Treehouse, especially for our youngest visitors. There is a good selection of lunches, brunches and even cream teas available in our lovely tearoom, with plenty of choice to suit every appetite and budget. A large undercover area is also available, if you decide to bring a picnic. Our gift shop stocks a wide variety of souvenirs and fabulous gifts for the whole family. « less
