Join a tour from Port Hardy into the traditional territory of the Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations aboard our 28' Coast Guard-certified vessel to run the worlds fastest navigable tidal rapids, the Nakwakto Rapids.The Nakwakto Rapids are among the fastest in the world and can run up to 20 knots, and are the gateway to over 100 miles of remote coastline, including the Great Bear Rainforest.Aboard the vessel, learn more about the history and culture of the Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations, and also come into close contact with local wildlife, including eagles, bears and whales - the vessel is equipped with a hydrophone.The vessel has been fitted out with the comfort of the passengers in mind - it's heated, and there are complimentary snacks and beverages. There is also a washroom on board.Basic itinerary:- Leave the dock after a traditional prayer and departure ceremony- Begin journey to the rapids (approx. 1.25 hrs.)- Introductions and multimedia presentation- Snacks and hot and cold beverages offered- Origin story while transiting through Schooner Channel- Begin the rapids interaction- 30-45 minutes of running the rapids- Exit through Schooner or Slingsby Channel- Wild life viewing where our guests might be blessed to see whales, dolphins, eagles, sea birds, sea lions, porpoises, seals and more.- Listening to traditional drumming provided by our cultural guide while traveling back to Port Hardy.- Return to dock- Whole trip is approx. 4 hours
