- Departure79547611 contributionsThis museum was outstanding and had a huge number of vareid exhibits. the main building is built of logs and is full of historical artifacts of all sorts. It tells of early settlers as well as more recent history. I enjoyed the vintage vehicles from cars and trucks to old machinery, most of which was stored outside.
They staff were very helpful too. We stayed there for several hours.Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JenniferandAlanEaston, PA747 contributionsMy husband and I have been driving the Alaska highway to the Yukon every Aug for 21 years and enjoy the scenery here. We always see wildlife along the road. Summit Lake is beautiful You can see the lake up close from one of the campgrounds and use the outhouse. Absolutely beautiful scenery, a blue blue lake, mountains, and wildlife. What could be better.Written December 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SextFort Nelson, Canada86 contributionsIt's a nice spot to go for a quiet walk. Kid and pet friendly.
Trails are all well marked and maintained. You can pick shorter or longer trails. And you can enjoy a picnic at the pond, or a bonfire near the entrance.Written July 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Definitely worth the stop if you are driving the Alaska Highway and looking to get out of the car for a few hours. I'm a single digit handicapper, and found this to be an enjoyable place to play.
Pros:
*Solid layout. A few really fun elevated tee shots, and a nice variety of holes. Fairways are generous, but if you hit it in the trees, say goodbye to your ball!
*Good conditioning. Season is short this far north, but the course was actually in nice shape. Only one green was a little spotty. Fairways were great. The rough was a bit on the long side, but that gives you a little extra incentive to hit it straight.
*Staff was friendly and accommodating.
*Scenery in this part of the world is second to none.
Cons:
*A few of the greens on this course are ridiculous. The slopes are severe. I putted off the green twice! The green on the second par 3 (#8 I believe) was especially brutal.
*THE BUGS!!! I was the only one I saw walking the course, and now I understand why. The mosquitoes and flies were atrocious! I used my bug spray a handful of times out there but I still had to basically run to my ball between shots. That being said, there was a lot of locals on the course and they didn't seem to mind. I guess you just have to get used to it.
All in all, I would recommend Poplar Hills if you are a golfer and looking for a game during your road trip. 7/10.Written July 19, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
