"Be there before the coach tours come or after they have left. It is an experience to enjoy. Take a look, take a swim and unwind after the visit to Chichen Itza."
"If you ever have watched History Channel and seen some of the great wonders including the pyramids of Egypt (to which I have also been), then this is worth every minute of the three hours drive to get there.
There is not enough space to talk to the history, culture and beauty of this site, and so..." best to research it fully before you go. The main pyramid is spectacular and indeed is a marvel of man.
Some advice. Our particular tour guide styled himself as some kind of archaeological professor which meant that he wasted SIGNIFICANT time talking the hind leg off a donkey to show how clever he was. If my friend and I had not left the group to take photos, we probably would not have seen much of the site which is huge, but its easy to figure out with a site map.
Besides this, there are many interesting smaller structures which are just magnified like 'The Church' and taking proper camera with zoom lens to this outing is really worth it.

"Visited here in mid February 2013. We arrived just as the place was opening and our coach was the second one there. Best advice I can give is to be there as early as possible. This site is vast but gets very busy later in the day and this detracts from the wonder. It also gets very hot, remember you..." are not by the sea and there is little or no breeze.
