The idea behind the Jardin de Orquideas, JOM, in its simplest form, is to maintain for future generations a small sampling of the vast and varied lifeblood of Mexico's living natural wonders. As of January 2008, the collection has over 1800 rescued plants with 350 species. The collections data base has over 3300 entries of the epiphytes of Chiapas. The Jardin is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am till dark. Entrance is free a donation is appreciated if one enjoys and cares to help this very worthwhile project.
Galeria Studio Cerrillo was founded in 2002 to allow the talented and varied artist of Chiapas an outlet for their visual works to be presented in a professional and classic manner. Since then the gallery has had over 40 exhibitions showcasing artist from Mexico and around the world. The gallery is the only full time cultural space dedicated to the plastic artist in San Cristobal.
