welcome to Bransby Bransby Home of Rest For Horses is an equine welfare charity which was founded in 1968. Since then Bransby have helped over 1000 animals. Our objective is to prevent and relieve cruelty to horses, ponies and donkeys, to protect them from unnecessary suffering and for that purpose to promote knowledge of their care and treatment among the public. We are completely funded by the generosity of public donations.Between our two sites in Lincolnshire and Herefordshire we have over 400 animals currently in our care, which keeps us constantly busy. The Bransby site near Lincoln is open to the public 365 days a year; it is a great day out for all the family with plenty to see and do. Unfortunately our Herefordshire site is not currently open to the public. 2012 continues where the last year ended. We have already provided a safe haven for 50 animals and the welfare office continues to take a vast amount of calls on a daily basis. All of these additional animals are putting a strain on welfare resources. We have had to increase staff numbers to ensure that all of theanimals continue to benefit from the high standard of care that they deserve. In addition to this, we have incurred significant costs to bring more fields backinto grazing use, with fencing continuing to be incredibly expensive. The work doesn’t end there. We are now looking at the winter facilities that willbe required to house the additional animals that we have in our care. Providingall weather paddocks will enable some of the fields to rest through the hardwinter months, providing excellent grazing through the spring and summer.

"Last visited 15 years ago,we were amazed at how the site has grown and extremely impressed with the new visitor centre and restaurant block. The facilities for the many horses and donkies on the site are superb, their welfare obviously and rightly being put before anything else, and the care and attent..."ion given to the animals is heartwarming. Interaction with visitors is welcomed and made easy and there is plenty of information available wherever you look, and no shortage of friendly, helpful staff on hand.

"Bransby Home for Horses is well worth a visit if you find yourself in Lincolnshire. Brand new vistor centre and cafe now open - free to get in, and all profits from cafe and gift shop go to help run this great place. Plenty of walkways around paddocks to get wheelchairs around, welcome to pet over 3..."00 horses and ponies.
I was very impressed with the friendly staff, handwash areas all over, play area for children, poo bins for dog walkers. You get a general welcoming feeling not just from staff but because you can virtually wonder anywhere. Yes there are some signs on gates saying No Entry, and of cause you shouldn't feed the animals, but there are no long lists of dos and don'ts!
I have a dog, and felt very welcome here. Just walk in the main entrance of the visitor centre with your pooch, and start exploring. I ordered food from the cafe, then got my dog from the car, and the friendly lady brought it out to me ( no dogs inside cafe, but a covered over seating area is outside)....

"We are regular visitors to Bransby. We love seeing the horses and donkeys. They have recently built a new visitors centre including a new cafe and play ground. They have a large picnic area and car park. It makes a lovely day out. The autumn and summer fayres are fab too :) I would highly recommend ..."going. Fun for all. My children love going. It's free to enter too
