Temaikèn is a foundation that studies, promotes and makes information available on the protection of Nature. It is based on three mainstays: RESERCH, EDUCATION AND PRESERVATION. In order to carry out its mission of promoting the study, research, knowledge and communication of all matters related to flora and fauna, fostering a sense of respect for the preservation and restoration of the environment, Temaikèn has:• A Biopark, located in the city of Belén de Escobar: to communicate environmental issues and raise awareness on people, through entertainment and contact with nature.• A Natural Reserve in the Province of Misiones: that works as a “biological shock absorber” for the Teyú Cuaré Provincial Park, extending the protected area of the pristine rainforest. Temaikèn also co-manages 2 Provincial Parks: Cruce Caballero and Araucarias, both part of the Pino Paraná Forest ecosystem, also in the Province of Misiones.• Educational Programs: for the purpose of “Educating to Preserve” Temaikèn provides institutions with its educational programs adapted to school curricula and applicable to all levels of education: Initial, PEB, ESB, High School, Primary School, Secondary School and Special Education. This work is supplemented by Teachers Training Courses and activities with the communities located within the ecosystems under protection or to be protected.• Research and Preservation Programs: Various programs are carried out at the Foundation: Protected Areas, Endangered Species and Marine Biodiversity. These programs comprise the specific Preservation Projects aimed at achieving Temaikèn’s purpose: The Preservation of native species, particularly endangered species. • A Center for Reproduction of Species (CRET): where animal Rehabilitation and Reproduction programs are carried out, supporting both Preservation Programs and the authorities governing the illegal trafficking of animals. These programs focus on rehabilitating animals that are later returned to their habitat as part of various release and reintroduction programs.

"Temaiken is one of the best Bioparks Ive visited, and I know quite a few. It is perhaps the only major attraction in Argentina built and operated to the top international standards. Facilities are modern, constantly refurbished and updated, and the collection of animals and plants that are on disp..."lay is truly impressive. This place is not to be missed if you can manage the drive out north of the City. Amazing place to visit with kids.

It was raining hard that morning and still raining by the time I had to go to the pickup point. By the ti..."me I arrived at the zoo, the sun was out and the skies clear and blue. The cost was about $50 for the tour bus and admission so I don't know what the admission price would have been if I came by some other means.
The zoo is 14 Hectares which is about 34.5 acres. The area is easy to walk. There was no crowd. In fact the place was very quite. I think that may have been because of the poor weather in the morning kept people away. By noon it was warm and sunny. Animals had plenty of space. Many of the areas had wooden walkways high above the animal pens so one could walk over and get up close to the animals. They have 12 places to eat and everything from the simple snack foods, hamburgers, pizz...
