Innerleithen, situated just a few miles south east of Glentress is the preserve of the more experienced rider. Deemed as providing awesome downhill and freeride trails, as well as a cracking red-graded XC route.

"This fortified manor house is the oldest continuously-inhabited (by the same family) house in Scotland. The family was Catholic and the history and many of the precious objects they hold relate back to the time of Bonny Prince Charlie and Mary Queen of Scots. That was enough to intice us off the t..."wo obvious travel rat-run alternatives between England and the Scottish central belt (A74 or A1), and take time out in the Scottish Borders, to see what this place could offer. We were not disappointed.
What struck us was the friendliness of the staff and guides; nothing was too much trouble to explain, you only had to ask. The tour is self-guided, with lots of information in each room, enabling you to go at your own pace. "Wow! The St Ronan Wells (is the famous blue & white building built slightly up on the hillside w/ the small flag at the top). The fantastic view of the hill directly across from the blue & white building is "Lee Pen". Here at the St. Ronan Wells, they have a spa, a museum, & their very own spring wa..."ter, obtained from their water wells in their gardens! This is pure "spring water" which is bottled & then sold off to the public at a reasonable price. One is also able to view their on-site museum, spa + sit down at any one of their garden tables as well.

"This is a real gem of a place and worth the trip out to find it. Loads of history about the place and a great place to stroll around. There is so much history in the house that its hard to know where to start. So fabulous. I also visited the little shops they have and the leather / jewellery place i..."s just stunning. A great selection of very different stuff in there and all seemly made there too. The house has a brewery and that must make the current Laird a great catch. She has not yet returned my calls though. The cafe has some great cake. There are great grounds too and on a sunny day (was sunny when I visited) it will be a great place to hang out.
