The funding came from a range of sources including the Regional Growth Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and European Regional Development Fund as well as from private donors, Stoke-On-Trent City Council has been a key partner in the project. Middleport Pottery continues to be the 'Home of Burleigh'; the pottery business which occupies approximately half the site. Burleigh is now owned by Denby Holdings and they continue to produce beautiful ware in the building which has been their home since it was bulit in 1888. In 2014 the atmospheric site will feature a new visitors centre to explore and cafe to enjoy. These facilities will attract visitors from out of the area and offer spaces and facilities for community use. We will also offer a varied programme of education, events and activities. In the remaining space, workshops will be created for small creative businesses bringing further jobs to the area, and allow them to grow and flourish. On the top floor, at the core of the site, serviced office space will also provide accommodation for small businesses. We are committed to offering training and development and are working in partnership with the other Prince's Charities, Staffordshire University and many local organisations to offer exciting opportunities. For the moment visitors are very welcome in the Burleigh shop and pre bookable factory tours are available. « less
