Well worth the effort

This trip was so much fun, our children still talk about it. We were taken along the route in a Land Rover Defender, which added to the bumpy romantic experience!

With a big car park, two small cafes serving beer and snacks. Endless sand for miles surrounded by dunes and hills. Drive to the beach is historic, passing through old mining towns. The road down is bumpy but camper vans make it, and so did our convertible VW.

We arrived there after a whole day of driving. The place itself is simply impressive, the huge sandy beach made from the sand from a desert. While driving through tight valley full of remainings of the mining from another era makes you impatient. When you Access the parking space you can already hear the roaring of the vawes. after a... Incredible view and amazing feeling when seeing the greatness of the waves and their power. Came there just for the sunset and experienced an amazing evening. A bit remote location which makes it even better. Would definitely return!

extraordinary location, is fantastic the beach quiet place, perfect to relax, good food on the snack bar. parking 5 euro. The route is long and suitable for offroads or SUV cars. If is sunny is possible to drive with basic car. I drive there Opel Insignia and it works.

The 'interesting' route to get here, is to follow the road south from Portu Maga, and when it becomes a track - keep going, and when you get to the first river-bed - keep going, and when you get to the second river-bed, with water in it - keep going, you're almost there at the one of the biggest sand... No words to describe this place, simply beautiful between the dunes of sand and the sea which was, the day I went there, kinda perfect for surfers with 3/4 mt high waves. Gotta go back there again! For sure!

It is a nice beach, and if you are staying close to it, then don't miss it. Otherwise you can skip it for sure.... It takes forever to get there, we went from Carbon and took us 2 hours for 95 km, imagine the roads.... If you have kids the trip will be a nightmare. Once there, it is a... More

I had to bike through here, and biking in sand is so not fun, then I had to forge a river... but the dunes were so incredibly wild it was worth the slog.... go just to see how a dune could be a horror movie....
