The trick here is to go just the once. Arrive about 5, take yourself around the tanks and you`ll spot half a dozen frogs if you`re lucky. Then at 6 go again with the guide and... read more

I am not a fan of zoos and so avoid them. I do not like a place where an animal is trapped in a tiny enclosure far smaller than it's natural environment. However for this place it sounded different. Glass lined ponds was the impression I was given and as such I thought it would be nice to see the... More

Its a small place with extremely friendly people and super knowledge guide. We saw the insect and frog/ totes exhibition twice - during the day and night. We were also allowed to watch the feeding of frogs. The guide was very knowledgeable, funny and engaging. The people in the caffee/ at the reception were very friendly and helpful too. This... More

We went to see the butterflies and then the frogs during the day. Since we were able to comeback at night, we did as the guide advised us and it was perfect! Definitely worth coming back.

Ok, so I forgot that most frogs are nocturnal. We went in the afternoon. We saw a few frogs, but not too many. We did get a ticket so we could come back in the evening or another time, which would have been great, but it was our last day. We did have fun looking in the exhibits with the... More

While walking around Santa Elena during our stay in the Monteverde area, we decided to take in the butterfly and frog exhibit. Not large, but a decent use of a couple of hours. While awaiting our guided tour, we watched a flock of green parrots chatting it up in a tree. You first walk through a nice little stretch of... More

This was our first go-around with zip lining as the last time we were here our youngest was, well, too young. The lady at the front advised us that the next opening for the zip line tour was led by Spanish-speaking guides (who could not speak or understand English). I understand more Spanish than I can speak at this point... More

It is basically a zoo with butterflies. There are 3 netted enclosures with different species of butterflies.

$13 for the Ranario with the guide included. And our guide made it worth it! She is very knowledgeable about the terrariums and was very adept at finding the frogs. The poison frogs are active during the day and the nonpoison are active at night so there isn't one brilliant time to come to the Ranario. With your admission you... More

The trick here is to go just the once. Arrive about 5, take yourself around the tanks and you`ll spot half a dozen frogs if you`re lucky. Then at 6 go again with the guide and you`re guaranteed to see plenty, including those you missed that had clearly been right under your nose the first time around. As with most... More

I enjoyed our visit but was not convinced that the housing of the frogs was the best option for viewing them. The frogs are very tiny and behind the glass of the tanks they are difficult to see. Other than this it was a worthwhile visit. Our guide was very patient with us and let us set the pace, the... More
