We made a reservation for a guided tour through the reserve and had an excellent tour guide. It isn't as easy to see wildlife here as it is in areas such as Manuel Antonio, but the reserve is so peaceful and the weather was fantastic, with a cool breeze. We saw two male quetzals and a female, along with a... More

Went with a wonderfully-informed Guide from our hotel the Monteverde Lodge and Gardens,(Carlos). He had great eyes, and spotted lots of birds, but also knew so much about the biota of the Refuge. He also shared the cultural history of Costa Rica. We spotted 5 resplendent quetzals, a flock of emerald toucanets, and many other species of birds to add... More

You have to hike at night or day with Koki, Jenn at the Treehouse will hook you up. He is absolutely the best there is. Lovely to be able to spend time in his world.

My family was too tired to do a night activity so I went on my own. It was a good thing, as despite seeing many animals, they were far away and dimly illuminated by flashlights, so I don't think it would have kept the attention of today's youth. Our guide, Chris, was keen and knowledgeable and worked hard to find... More

We really loved out night tour....completely worth it in terms of the experience & wildlife spotting. Frogs, stick insect, sloth, leaf ants, pit viper, grey fox, coati, kinkajou, sleeping toucan and tarantula. Amazing!

This is a good place to find a lot of wildlife from birds to mammals and even vipers! We went on a nice safari equipped with torches (provided). The walking was easy and our guide Roy was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The trip cost us $25 but was worth it. Highly recommended!

We arrived around 10am and enjoyed our hike but did not see many animals. Actually saw more at the Curi Canchi reserve next to the Cheese Factory which was also less crowded. Trails were very nice and easy to walk.

We had berny as our guide, he was a walking encyclopedia! Well trained at spotting various birds, bugs, and animals. Well worth the $25! We highly recommend this night walk and would do it again.

At first I was sceptic because I've had already done a night tour in Tortuguero which was just ok. But now, I would really recommend the night tour! We saw alot of things (scorpions, snakes, tarantulas, hummingbirdnest, possums etc.) and had a very good guide!
