We had Marvin, the owner, as our guide. We are horse owners ourselves so we can appreciate how well trained and cared for the horses were. We had a great ride through Monteverde and towards the end of the ride Marvin took us to see his trick horse Gladiator, "his baby". Marvin did all kinds of tricks with Gladiator having... More

We thoroughly enjoyed seven days on horseback in the Costa Rican back country with breath taking vistas of the cloud forests, rainbows, coffee plantations, cattle ranches, secluded waterfalls and scenic steep terrain. Marvin, our wonderful guide, knew the terrain, the animal and plant life, local communities and had skillfully planned our daily rides on his superbly trained horses. Our horse... More

a very long (too long) of a horseback riding tour, unless you are an experienced rider. 3 hours. Needed a massage afterward to my body wouldn't be wrecked for the rest of my trip. My wife loved it but I would not do it again. More

We did the short horseback ride of 2.5 hours one afternoon after visiting the forest in the morning. Both my 12 yo daughter and I are novices. Marvin was a great guide explaining a lot about the local plant and animal life and we stopped at a little cafe to watch hummingbirds and have an afternoon coffee. Just a great... More

I have never seen someone love their horses as much as Marvin loves his. As a result, all the horses are stunningly beautiful and healthy. Marvin is a gentle, honest and caring person and provides a safe and fun tour. If you want a relaxing ride, you can enjoy the amazing views of Monteverde and if you want an adventure... More

Thank you so much for your kind comments! Just wanted to make a small correction... hope you don't mind! Because of the terrain of Monteverde it is not normally possible to gallop very much and nearly all tours are done at a walk and trot. There are small areas you can gallop but this depends on the guide. But certainly... More

Had a lovely 3.5 hour trek with Marvin. Lovely horses, very well kept and cared for and a fantastic tour of the monteverde area, in bright sunshine. I rode whiskey who was very well behaved. This tour was very good for both intermediate and beginner riders, however more experienced may want a longer ride or full day experience . Marvin... More

I booked a 2,5 hours horseback riding tour with Horse Trek in Monteverde. The guide Melvin, who's also the owner, was absolutely wonderful! He was attentive, he showed us scenic views of the back country as well as many animals and vegetation. Since it could be quite windy, I would recommend to wear long sleeves and pants. Bringing a wind... More

We rode with owner, Marvin, for our excursion. He greeted us prior to our ride on a young stallion that pranced and danced for him, just gorgeous. Then, he offered the horse to our daughter for the ride and the horse transformed into the most calm trail horse you could imagine. She was so proud to ride him. Marvin was... More

Where do we begin. I was traveling for the first time to CR with my family of 8, teens, preteens, and young children. We scheduled the tour from here in the US. I am a novice rider (chicken), while my wife and kids are fearless. I had many questions about safety, dress (bring a sweatshirt it's cold in the mountains),... More
