We hadn't planned on doing this tour & I'm so glad we did! It was one of the best tours we did while in Costa Rica. Oscar was our tour guide & he did a great job of explaining all the different processes on the farm. Our only mistake was we wore sandals & our feet were SO dirty at... More

There's a little bit of everything on this tour. Information about growing and harvesting sugar cane, coffee and chocolate is given by knowledgeable guides. We were given tastes of all three products, the most surprising being the sweetness that surrounds a coffee bean before it is picked. Our group made chocolate from scratch and it was delicious and we saw... More

Went there as a small tour of about 12 people. The tour of the plantation was excellent. We already knew a lot about coffee from living in Jamaica and Hawaii, but learned a lot from the leader of this tour. The lunch provided was excellent, but the coffee they brewed was only mediocre.

It is not an easy thing to keep kids ranging in age from 4-11 interested and engaged, but this tour was paced perfectly. Everyone could participate in inspecting coffee beans as they come from plant to roaster and to cup. The same with sugar cane and cocoa, with tourists making their own molasses! A great way to spend the morning... More

Awesome tour for families - very informative, fun and entertaining all at once. One of our favorite activities during our stay in Monteverde. Learned about coffee, chocolate and sugar cane - tasting and watching all of the processes. I thought I knew a lot about coffee but was wrong. Family run business - our guide was very knowledgable and funny.... More

We really enjoyed this. You get to see the process for 3 of Costa Rica's main crops Coffee, Chocolate and Cane Sugar. The chocolate segment was particularly good. You get to taste chocolate at all stages of the process from bean to finished product and see how it changes. Our children loved this! The sugar process is fascinating to see... More

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and funny. Our two girls (5) and (7) had a great time eating sugar cane, tasting coffee beans, making tapadulce, and learning all about chocolate. Must see especially if you have young ones!

Great place. Great tour. Family run business. Likely better during December - March harvest time. No Cacao growing here. Check back in 5 years they said. They show you the process with beans bought from Guanacaste province. The highlight was seeing a working ram pump power a watermill to press the sugar cane. No sugarcane or chocolate products sold on... More

beautiful grounds ( are they called farms or plantations?) of a multi-generational coffee, cacao, and sugar cane enterprise up near the cloud forest reserve. They made the education very entertaining, and the tasting at the end was delicious! They served us tastes of roast coffee beans; raw cacao from the pod, and then processed as just the ground cacoa, with... More

The tour packs a lot of different aspects in fell swoop. You learn about all aspects of the coffee process from plant to roasted beans, including some of the unfortunate labor situations in the industry. You also get an oxcart ride, taste a traditional sugarcane liquor, watch sugarcane being ground, make some sugarcane-taffy, see the chocolate process from fruit to... More
