I had an afternoon free and decided to do this tour. It was a fun experience! Our guide was funny and interesting and very knowledgable about traditional and contemporary methods of growing and processing these plants. We saw sugar cane and coffee from field to finished product and learned about chocolate growing and processing, too. We got the chance to... More

It was a great experience, my four year old did really well and we learned about coffee, sugar and cacao. We walked around outside and the tour was mixed up with info and hands on stuff. Great guides!

Our group of 4 had a guided tour by Oscar who was very enthusiastic about showing us the coffee plantation/farm. He answered all of our questions and offered an endless amount of information and insight as to how the coffee beans are processed, we made chocolate and sugar candy. He also shared some great photos of birds he had taken... More

Walk through the actual fields of sugar cane, coffee plants, and banana trees. See the drying huts for coffee and cocoa. Taste cocoa beans and coffee. Hand make your own brown sugar from cane juice you watch be squeezed from the plant. There is even a resident sloth to photograph. Hotel pick up and delivery provided at no extra charge.... More

Even if you don't like coffee like me, this tour is an experience! Our guide made a lot of jokes. We ate suffer cane, made our own sugar, taste cacao from the seed to real chocolate as we know it. And of course we learned a lot about the coffee producing process!

This 3-in-1 tour gives you a diverse look at the local farming, culture and old world ways of doing things. Our guide spoke great English and was very knowledgable. The tour takes you through the process of picking, sorting and roasting coffee beans (with a spectacular scenic overlook at the coffee fields). You then learn how to pick and then... More

Our guide Oscar was lovely. Softly spoken and very knowledgable about all things related to sugarcane, coffee and cocoa. It was nice to learn more about all 3 of these things, and great to taste the chocolate and the sugar candies. The coffee, lemon drink and the food provided at the end of the tour was really good, and a... More

El Trapiche Coffee tour was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica Trip. We were initially considering to skip the tour because we have been on Coffee/Chocolate/Sugar cane tours in Dominican and Cuba and found them to be centered around buying souvenirs. I'm so glad we went. It was awesome! our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the... More

I have taken three different coffee tours in Costa Rica and this one is by far the best. One of the reasons was the passion and knowledge of our guide Diego. The coffee plantation has been in the family for four generations and Diego is part of the fourth generation. It is apparent that he has a passion for growing... More

When I visited Costa Rica 2 years ago I attended a coffee tour. The tour of El Trapiche surpassed that one by far. Oscar our guide was very detailed and thorough of the coffee, sugar cane and chocolate processing procedure. The view of the countryside while taking the tour was incredible. We could even see the Pacific Ocean. The best... More
