Fun Afternoon

Learned a lot about coffee, chocolate and sugar. Got to taste a lot too, which is always a bonus. It was a fun day.

Amazing family owned facilities & tour. We got to pick the coffee beans, taste them at each stage. We got to taste cocoa at each stage from bean to paste to powder. We got to chew on some fresh sugar cane. And at the end we got to drink some of the coffee. Amazing tour guide. I would highly recommend... More

Easy walk through farm & processing areas. Learn how coffee, chocolate & sugar is made. Sample products (including some strong alcohol!), ride an oxcart, browse the small gift shop.

Our tour at El Trapiche was fun and informative and a great way to spend an afternoon. We enjoyed learning about the traditional and modern ways to grow and process coffee, cocoa, and sugar cane and tasting a lot of the steps along the way. Our guide did a great job of interweaving Costa Rican culture and history into the... More

The tour takes place on a family owned farm where they grow sugar, chocolate and coffee. Our guide was Diego who is obviously proud of everything he is describing. We saw sugar cane growing, and every step from the plant until delicious candy. The same was true for chocolate and coffee. Learning, seeing and tasting, you couldn't ask for a... More

My friends and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon on this tour. It is operated by a family that has farmed in Monteverde for several generations. Lots of great information about coffee, sugar cane, and cocoa growing /processing but not presented in a boring way. Great photo ops. Lots of tastings along the way and you get to make your own... My sister and I wanted to do a coffee tour and had the option between 2 companies. The hostel recommend this one. This tour was amazing! Our guide was very informative and funny! This tour is interactive, you touch, smell, see and feel everything to do with coffee, sugarcane and chocolate. Would highly recommend.

Great coffee/chocolate tour. Had a guide with us for the entire process of how the coffee was produced from plants to the cup. Had a taste of sugar cane, tasted some chocolate also. The tour included the bus ride to our hotel. The entire tour takes about 3 hrs, and there is some walking up and down hills. Enjoyed the... More

A wonderful tour of a family-run farm that goes through the cocoa, sugar cane, and coffee production processes from bean/stalk to finished product. You are given opportunities to taste/smell/feel each food throughout the stages of production. The ox-cart ride is a fun photo op, and our group saw a sloth in one of the trees along the walk! At the... More
