Looking to find an authentic Mauritian experience, we contacted Jay upon arriving on the island (jaytannoo[AT]yahoo.com). Jay was flexible with scheduling and three days later we met up with him at the Bus Station ready for an adventure. An adventure through the flora and fauna of inland Mauritius was exactly what we got! Jay was a fantastic guide. Right of the bat,... More

Rock Climbing covering 2 cascades out of 7 waterfalls in Mauritius- "Going over the edge" , 2 fantastic Mauritius Red Cross Personnel also Technical Rope Rescue instructors were kind enough to illustrate to my colleague and I the physics of how to build anchors, elements required to construct and operate safe and efficient raising/lowering systems, scenario-based rope-rescue evolutions and techniques... Don't try and do this by yourself if you're not used to trail hiking as the paths are not clear and the falls can be dangerous and slippery. This place is beyond the hoards of tourists pouring out of hotel taxis to take a selfie and drive off to the next view point, so try to hire a local guide... More

This hike to the waterfalls was by far the best thing we did on our trip to Mauritius and my husband, my 10 year old daughter, and I all agree it made the trip. So did our guide, Jay Tanoo (jaytannoo@yahoo.com or by phone on 57641372) . It would be difficult to do this on your own but with Jay,... More

Jay is a fantastic guide and gave us the authentic, natural Mauritian experience that is not possible to get from a hotel excursion. His knowledge of the forest is impressive, as are his wife's cooking skills which we enjoyed during a delicious lunch by one of the 7 cascades. This is an absolute must for anyone visiting Mauritius. You can... More

An UNMISSABLE activity in Mauritius' interior. There is more to this island than beautiful beaches! A 4 hr scenic trip down the gorge, stopping at 4 waterfalls, swimming, fish pedicure and picnic lunch. We stayed in the NW corner of the island, so it was a 1hr taxi ride to where the guide (Jay) picks you up, at Henrietta bus... More

We read about this hike and Jay the guide from Trip Advisor. We contacted Jay before arriving in Mauritius and again once we had arrived. My husband and I were joined by 2 French lasses. I was extremely nervous once we started the hike as although I was wearing hiking shoes I found it very steep and challenging. Jay was... More
