The Fondation Beyeler Museum is probably the best museum in Switzerland. From the current and absolutely amazing Gauguin exposition to the normal stand by expositions, it has absolutely everything a good museum needs. It is not too big, doesn't have so many pieces of art that it is too much and it is easy accessible by public transport. As I... More

We took the train from Geneva to see the current Gauguin exhibit at the Beyeler Foundation in Basel. From the station take trams 2 and 6. Early in the morning and late afternoon the 2 goes all the way to the museum. The exhibit is beautiful. Large spaces with beautiful light make the paintings come alive. The Tahiti period is... More

Take the tram 6 from "Schiffslände" - it will bring you directly to the museum. Until June, they host the Gauguin exposition, with world famous pöictures and some sculptures of this artist. Unlike museums in Berlin or News York, you won't have to wait in a crowd for hours! The entrance fee is ok (28 SFR)

The present exibition at Beyeler foundation in Basel is twice worth visiting, first to discover the museum bild by Renzo Piano, the co architect of Pompidou Museum in Paris, and secondly visiting a fantastic presentation of 50 peinting by PAUL GAUGUIN rarely present in such an important scale. It took 6 years to convince museums and especially private collectionists to... More

You will unlikely have another chance during your lifetime to see this compilation of Gaugin masterpieces together in one space. Very well curated exhibit. See more at the web site of the Fondation Beyeler (http://www.fondationbeyeler.ch/en/Home). And while you are there visit also the Peter Doig exhibition, which will be open until March 22. Believe me--this is worth a trip to... More

Architecturally impressive building with beautiful surrounding gardens (and a cafe), very spacious, top-quality exhibits, an oasis of art and tranquility. Most easily accessible by tram (#2 & #6). The museum store is filled with uniquely artistic gift items, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

This important collection is one of the tops of Switzerlands Art Museums. Allways you can see at least two main exhibitions of the world most important artists. At the moment is the exhibition of Gustave Courbet and another of Peter Doig. .... dont miss it!

Great setting, great museum, great experience. Saw a fine Courbet exhibit, but the small permanent collection has some fine Cezannes, Picassos, a couple of van Goghs, etc. Definitely a must when in Basel.

This a very good collection of art. In a beautiful building by Renzo Piano. Loved the Peter Doig's temporary exhibition. It worth the visit and the expensive price.
