But with Beyeler you really go for the art...which seems always to be worthwhile...no what has been curated! The architect, the stellar Renzo Piano, has done a truly splendid job here...the gallery is as responsive to the site as it is to one's comfortable viewing when inside..a hard-to-beat combo! & very unusual! Right now the intriguing farmland right outside, is... More

Lovely light and extensive building, which was largely occupied by works by Thomas Schutte when I visited, with a few major items by Calder. The architecture of the building is really interesting and I was left wondering how the floor could deal with the weight of the statues. Take a look at the "lily pads" in the pond at the... More

A visit to the Bayeler is just a delight. The permanent, but changeable, collection and the temporary exhibits of modern art never cease to amaze me. The architecture of the gallery - from the lily pond out front which reflects the huge Monet mural inside, the extensive natural lighting to the porcelain flies in the mens' urinals - is astonishing.... It is the perfect museum. Nothing more to say. Go there. Period. During our visit there was a Max Ernst temporary exhibition. Well, although I do not love Ernst to much (I suppose his artwork reflect too much the historical period he lived...), the presentation was astonishing, well organized, and you appreciated a lot more than in any other location.... A visti to Basel without going to the Fondation Beyeler is just not complete, at least for me. It's my alltime favorite museum in the world. I love the architecture of Renzo Piano, the museum is set in lovely countryside and has a beautiful pond at the entrance. That is already art to me. The art inside is breathtaking. It's... More

The museum is suburb of Basel and very green enviroment. The musum's building is a work of the famous architect Renzo Piano. The permanent collection encludes works of Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse. It includes lot of works of american artists, e.g. Rothko, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg, Kelly. At the moment there is great exhition of max ernst.

I have been to this museum several times and it never disappoints. The calibre of exhibits is equal to anything that is found in Paris, London, or any other major metropolitan area. One of my favorite exhibits was René Magritte. You know, the artist that painted a man, an green apple with a bowler. This museum can be reached directly... More
