This world class museum is obviously, absolutely, a must visit. We went there for the Gauguin exhibition, and were pleased by the layout of the Gauguin art. BUT, that day, heavy and continuous rain, we had to queue 1h45 in open air before reaching a covered area, just before the ticket booth. We did not completely enjoy our visit after... More

This is an absolutely fabulous collection of some 50 paintings of Paul Gauguin from museums all over the world. Certainly one of the most interesting exhibitions I have ever seen.

Fondation Beyeler was great experience. The design and set up were excellent. We visit during the Paul Gauguin exposition and was beautiful just to admire and understand the all history of the paintings and the painter!

Stunning modern architecture, a beautiful setting and very interesting and diverse exhibitions all make for an out of the ordinary outing. Not to be missed when one comes to Basel. It is also easily accessible by the tram, an extra Basler experience!

The Fondation Beyeler is impressive as a building and piece of architecture. One of Renzo Piano's nicer works. The grounds are beautifully kept and the floor to ceiling windows add an airiness to the building and seemingly place the art in nature. The permanent collection is quite small, but allows for lots of space for special exhibits. The recent Gauguin... More

I am definitely joining the crowd in giving top marks to this place. And who would not? Gorgeous architecture, great location, phenomenal exhibits. The price IS expensive, as is everything in Switzerland. But what a knock out! Not just the Gauguin exhibit, but the endless jaw dropping galleries filled with permanent collection masterpieces. You can feast your eyes on works... More

Beautiful museum set in lovely gardens with separate restaurant/cafe and a museum shop. Excellent private collection with well-curated temporary exhibitions. Very good audio-tours and guided tours usually available. Recently saw the Gauguin exhibition, which has some superb and very clever interactive books, as well as a lovely collection of paintings and sculpture.
